A Twist of Cool   EASTSIDE RADIO 89.7FM    April 2010 - March 2012

(BLOG -  24 March 2012)

History of the show

On Wed 7 April, 2010, Peter March and I began presenting A Twist of Cool
from 12noon-2pm every Wednesday on Eastside Radio, in Paddington NSW.

Our broadcasts included a mix of vocal & instrumental jazz, soul, blues, Latin
and world music.  We also interviewed many local, national and international
artists who supplied their fabulous music for us to play, and often provided

us with tickets to their shows and CDs to give to our supporters.

On Sat 1 October 2011 we changed our broadcast time from Wednesday 12n-2pm to Saturday 2-4pm, which was a time better suited for listeners to hear the show.  As our show was streamed live, we had listeners not only in Australia but around the world who often commented on artists or songs via our A Twist Of Cool facebook page.

During the Eastside Radiothons, we enroled many new supporters and sponsors to join Eastside and we trust they continue to enjoy the station.  Many thanks to the generous sponsors who provided goods & services including Margaret Morrison from Beach Lodge in Manganui, NZ who supplied one of the major prizes for the 2011 fundraiser “12-Days of Xmas” promotion.

We are grateful and thankful to the following interviewees who’ve appeared live on A Twist Of Cool
(in random order):

Many thanks also to Kat, Tony and the rest of the volunteers who ran the admin side of Eastside Radio, especially the overseas interns who provided fantastic support, and to the other presenters we befriended during our time there. It was a pleasure and honour to be part of the roster of Eastside Radio presenters.

Also, a huge thank you to ALL the amazing musicians and artists we played over (almost) two years, because without your music we would not have had a show.  We loved compiling our “Top 20 Best of” special shows that we presented at the end of each year the artists included represented the cream of Australian and international performers.  While musicians keep producing the good grooves, we’ll keep playing them!!

There will soon be Podcasts available of the two "Top 20 Best of" A Twist of Cool shows from 2010 and 2011 on this page.  Please revisit here to listen on demand, shortly.

We’d also like to acknowledge and thank the venue owners, managers and booking agents who support and present such a diverse range of live music in Sydney.  We will continue to support and promote excellent venues such as Lizottes, Blue Beat, The Basement, Notes Live, the Enmore Theatre, The State Theatre, The Factory Theatre, The Opera Bar, Venue 505, The Macquarie Hotel, The Vanguard, and the many others providing great entertainment for live music lovers.  (Note: some of these venues have since closed due to the lack of support from the general public.)

So, from Peter and me, thanks to YOU, our listeners and supporters, and we hope to see you at a live music gig somewhere around Sydney.  Please dont be afraid to come and say hello, as we'd love to meet you.

If you wish to contact us directly, please email georgina@mixbiz.com.

And remember, we still broadcast our 2-hour show Soulscope on FM99.3 Northside Radio every Sunday from 2-4pm streaming live on www.northsideradio.com.au.  Click HERE to listen live.
